Haveman’s first book, Rivers of Sand: Creek Indian Emigration, Relocation, and Ethnic Cleansing in the American South (Lincoln: University of Nebraska Press, 2016), which examines the wholesale removal of the Creek Indians from Alabama and Georgia, won the 2017 James F. Sulzby Book Award from the Alabama Historical Association
